YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – Young Harris College recently hosted the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police (GACP) District 9 Meeting. District 9 includes 24 counties throughout North Georgia. Chiefs of police, officers and executives from law enforcement agencies across District 9 attended the meeting for training purposes and to discuss other GACP business.
“I enjoyed meeting with the chiefs of police from around North Georgia,” said Enotah Judicial Circuit District Attorney Jeff Langley, who spoke at the meeting. “In today’s legal environment, it’s crucial that we build relationships across city and county lines. Given the prevalence of gang activity and cybercrimes, it’s especially important to build cooperation because criminals care little about city and county boundaries. Cooperation creates effective law enforcement.”
This was the first time YHC has hosted the GACP District 9 Meeting, according to YHC Chief of Police Ken Henderson. “I believe these meetings are a great way for law enforcement to come together to train, network and share information. I really appreciate our district representative, Chief Bruce Carlisle of the Lavonia Police Department, for allowing YHC to host the meeting and District Attorney Jeff Langley for coming to speak.”
