YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – Young Harris College plans to hold in-person, indoor Commencement ceremonies for the undergraduate class of 2020 on Saturday, May 1, for the undergraduate class of 2021 on Saturday, May 8 and for the MAT classes of 2020 and 2021 on Friday, May 7. Each graduating student will be permitted to invite up to four in-person guests to the ceremony.

In keeping with current CDC guidance and Gov. Kemp’s executive orders, all events will employ social distancing, and all attendees will be required to wear face coverings at all times, except when explicitly permitted to remove them. Hand sanitizer stations will be made available at multiple points, and electrostatic disinfectant systems will be employed prior to each ceremony or service.

Class of 2020

There will be two Commencement ceremonies for the undergraduate class of 2020 on Saturday, May 1, 2021, in the YHC Recreation & Fitness Center, the first in the morning and the second in the afternoon. Ceremonies will be organized by major with all program graduates marching together. (Double-major graduates may choose their ceremony/service as appropriate.) A Baccalaureate service will precede each Commencement ceremony in Glenn~McGinnis Hall located in the Clegg Fine Arts building, and the Senior Reception will occur midday for all graduates in the Rollins Campus Center. Members of the class of 2020 who wish to participate in the Brasstown hike and Vespers service will join with participants from the class of 2021 on Thursday, May 6 (weather permitting).

Class of 2021

There will be three Commencement ceremonies for the undergraduate class of 2021 on Saturday, May 8, 2021, in the YHC Recreation & Fitness Center, the first in the morning, the second near midday and the third in the afternoon. Ceremonies will be organized by major with all program graduates marching together. (Double-major graduates may choose their ceremony as appropriate.) The Senior Reception will occur on Wednesday, May 5 in the Rollins Campus Center, the Brasstown hike and Vespers service will occur on Thursday, May 6 (weather permitting) and Baccalaureate will occur on Friday, May 7 in Glenn~McGinnis Hall.

Class of 2020 and 2021 MAT Graduates

There will be a single Commencement and hooding ceremony for the graduates of the MAT classes of 2020 and 2021 on Friday, May 7 in the YHC Recreation & Fitness Center.

All Graduates

Graduates of the classes of 2020 and 2021 should be on the lookout for a survey from the Registrar’s Office in the coming days. This will be used to determine the exact numbers and arrangement of participants in all events. Additional details will be shared once participant numbers are confirmed. All Commencement ceremonies and Baccalaureate services will be livestreamed for those who cannot attend in person.
