YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. — Young Harris College is pleased to welcome the Reverend Dr. Adam Daniels as Young Harris College Chaplain.

With experience as a campus minister, a director of youth ministries, and an overall leadership professional with 15 years in the non-profit world, Daniels has led large groups of people in spiritual and leadership development, service opportunities, and community engagement. He served as a director of youth and young adult ministries at Tuckston United Methodist Church and Cookeville First United Methodist Church. He also spent years serving as a campus director for the Georgia Christian Student Center in Athens.

As Chaplain, Daniels will direct YHC Religious Life and Spiritual Life. His responsibilities will include leading weekly worship services, advising student faith organizations, supporting service-learning activities, promoting Religious Life programming, providing pastoral care and counseling, teaching appropriate college-level coursework, and managing the Susan B. Harris Chapel.

“I am excited and honored to be joining the students, staff, and faculty of the Young Harris College family,” said Daniels. “It’s such a desperately important time in our world to foster true belonging, meaningful conversations, and the cultivation of deep character. I believe Young Harris to be such a place where we can learn from and with one another, and I’m humbled to play whatever small part I can in its mission.”

Echoing Daniels’ thoughts, Young Harris College President Dr. Drew Van Horn said, “During a time of a pandemic, civil unrest, and human despair, Adam has the personality and heart for college students that reflects Young Harris College’s commitment to love and encourage our students. I look forward to Adam sharing his life with our campus community.”

Daniels earned a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Tennessee Tech University, a Master of Divinity from Lipscomb University, and a Doctor of Ministry in Youth Virtue Formation from Abilene Christian University.

Daniels is married to Jessie, and they have one child, Teddy. YHC looks forward to having the whole family on campus in the upcoming semester.
