The annual Ragsdale Lecture at Young Harris College will feature Dr. Jordan Rowan Fannin on Thursday, Sept. 12 at 6 p.m. in the Rollins Campus Center’s Hatcher Dining Room. The campus is located at 1 College St., Young Harris, Georgia. This event is part of YHC’s academic lecture series and is free and open to the public.
Young Harris College is among Georgia’s top-ranked colleges and universities, according to James magazine. Additionally, LendEDU recently recognized YHC for having one of the lowest average student loan debt per borrower figures—not only in Georgia, but in the entire country.

Young Harris College recently received a gift from long-time donor Ethel Winters of Hiawassee, Georgia as a contribution to the Edward W. Winters Scholarship, which was established in honor of her late husband to benefit the College’s Local Scholarship Campaign. Since 1998, Winters has given $1,000 annually to support local students pursuing an education at YHC.
Young Harris College President Dr. Drew L. Van Horn recently announced that Jennifer Rushton will serve as director of athletics for the Mountain Lions beginning July 1.
On Monday, May 13, Young Harris College hosted the 15th annual Clay Dotson Open golf tournament at Brasstown Valley Resort to raise money for student scholarships. Approximately 150 golfers played in the tournament, which raised more than $95,000.
Young Harris College conferred 195 degrees on graduates participating in the College’s Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 11 in the YHC Recreation and Fitness Center.
