History is one of several Humanities degrees offered at YHC. The major exposes students to social, cultural, military, economic, political, and intellectual moments of the past to foster better understanding of today’s world. History majors and minors are trained beyond the fundamentals to view history through lenses of critical thinking and analysis.

The Humanities majors are all built on the same liberal arts core and History in particular offers students the ability to explore the vast field of history by selecting courses from a wide range of topics. In addition, history majors have plenty of elective credit hours to double-major, minor, or simply take classes that pique their curiosity.

What can you do with a B.S. in History?

History prepares you for a range of graduate school and career options. Majors often train to be educators at each of the levels [secondary/high school, community college, and college and university] by attending graduate school or a MAT program. Majors also pursue law degrees, archival/museum studies degrees, and government positions, like law enforcement. With the writing skills and development of critical thinking and analytical skills, history majors are prepared for careers in a wide array of fields.
