ROAR Orientation

Ready to roar - Summer orientation

A one day orientation for incoming Mountain Lions.

All new students are required to attend ROAR Orientation. 

The ROAR program is designed to help ensure a smooth transition to Young Harris College for both students and their families. There are sessions hosted throughout orientation to support the holistic and comprehensive needs of both student and their families.

  • 9-9:30 a.m. Check in, Lobby, Rollins Campus Center
  • 9:30-9:45 a.m. Welcome New Mountain Lions, Suber Banquet Hall, Rollins Campus Center
  • 9:55-10:55 a.m. Life Outside the Classroom, Wilson Lecture Hall, Goolsby Center
  • 10:55-11:45 a.m. First Student Meeting, Small groups will meet in various locations for ice breakers, FAQs and discuss campus involvement.
  • 11:45-12:00 p.m. Meridian Overview, Suber Banquet Hall
  • 12:00-p.m.-12:45 p.m. Lunch and Learn, Grace Rollins Dining Hall, Rollins Campus Center
  • 12:45-1:45 p.m. Second Student Meeting, Small groups will meet in various locations for ice breakers, FAQs and discuss campus involvement.
  • 1:45-3:00 p.m. YHC Academics 101 and Next Steps, Susan B. Harris Chapel

What students should bring/wear for ROAR Orientation Day

When planning what to wear, it’s helpful to remember the following:

  • Student ID pictures will be taken.
  • Afternoon activity is outside – wear something casual in which you can be active.
  • Submit required health forms, if not already submitted.
