Assistant Professor of Biology
Young Harris College invites applications for a full-time tenure track assistant professor of Biology position beginning August 1, 2026. The applicant must (or will) possess a Ph.D. in a biological discipline related to environmental science. The successful applicant must be willing to teach courses in general biology for science majors and non-science majors, introductory environmental science/environmental studies courses, introduction to geographic information systems (GIS) and upper-level courses, e.g. ecology and courses related to their specialty. Someone with expertise in teaching vertebrate zoology, invertebrate zoology, animal behavior and/or climate change, soil science, and physical geography would be of particular interest. Although Young Harris College is primarily a teaching institution, the candidate should also have a strong interest in research and the capability to direct undergraduate students in guided research experiences.

The successful candidate will have earned at least a master’s degree in English and demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching in a liberal arts undergraduate curriculum. Candidates must be comfortable with technology and experience with Moodle is a plus. Course enrollments are capped at a reasonable size, and instructors are compensated per course.

This position plays a critical role in cultivating a culture of mentorship, purpose-driven on-campus employment, and experiential learning. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Mentorship Engagement:
- Provide logistical and strategic support for the YHC Mentoring Program.
- Ensure meaningful engagement between students, alumni, and Evans Scholars.
- Assist with mentor/mentee matching, training, communication, and tracking program outcomes.
On-Campus Employment Development:
- Support the YHC On-Campus Employment Program by working closely with student employees and campus supervisors.
- Promote career readiness by integrating NACE competencies into student job descriptions and evaluations.
- Develop and deliver career resources and training sessions for both students and supervisors.
Career Education and Student Support:
- Guide students in connecting academic knowledge to professional experience through career-related projects and assignments.
- Serve as a liaison between academic programs and career development to help students translate classroom learning into professional pathways.
- Assist in coordinating career engagement events and facilitating career development engagement opportunities through student life and social media.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, or related field preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience in career services, academic advising, student employment, or mentorship programming.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.

The Internship Coordinator is a full-time, 12-month professional staff position reporting to the Director of Career Services and Professional Development. This role is responsible for developing, expanding, and managing internship programs to ensure that Young Harris College students gain access to meaningful experiential learning opportunities aligned with their career goals. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Internship Program Development & Management:
Serve as the internal point of contact for the college’s internship program, supporting both credit and non-credit internships across all majors.
Coordinate and oversee all aspects of the internal internship process, including marketing internships to students and tracking internship participation.
Manage internship databases (including Handshake) and maintain accurate records for reporting purposes.
Collaborate with faculty and academic departments to align internships with academic programs and facilitate approval processes for credit-based internships.
Create and manage student internship agreements, evaluations, and learning outcome assessments.
Student Coaching and Support:
Conduct one-on-one coaching appointments with students on internship search strategies, resume writing and interviewing skills.
Design and deliver workshops, class presentations, and events related to internships, experiential learning, and career readiness.
Guide students understanding on how internships support career exploration and post-graduate employment outcomes.
Employer Engagement & Event Coordination:
Assist employers with internship development, recruitment strategies, and effective supervision practices.
Coordinate and promote internship fairs, employer information sessions, and other recruiting events.
Facilitate employer participation in campus programming such as panels, workshops, and classroom visits.
Program Assessment & Administration:
Track and analyze internship program participation and outcomes, preparing reports for institutional stakeholders.
Develop and update internship program policies, procedures, and promotional materials.
Other Duties:
Perform other duties as assigned to support Career Services operations and strategic initiatives.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

Knowledge of NACE career readiness competencies and best practices in experiential education.
Professional experience in a small, liberal arts college setting.

The User Support Specialist works within a customer focused team environment to deliver exceptional service and support to the college community. The ideal candidate will possess technology skills in the following areas: desktop/laptop computers, software, printers/copiers, projectors and sound systems. Responsibilities will include installation and maintenance of all technology enhanced classrooms, access control software, setup and teardown of audio-visual equipment for events, diagnoses of end-user technical issues in the areas of applications, operating systems, hardware, network connectivity and printers. Since technology plays a key role in the overall operation of the College, this position will require occasional work beyond normal business hours and on call availability for situations that require immediate attention. In this position, this person must be a results-driven individual with business acumen, have the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical staff, excellent prioritization and time management skills.
An Associate Degree in Computer Information Systems or Business Management is required with 3+ years of experience in providing technology and audio-visual support. In lieu of an Associate Degree, 5+ years of experience will be considered. Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact effectively with people in a variety of situations.
