Jim Thomas joined the YHC faculty in 1987. Since arriving at YHC, he has taught over 30 different courses in sport, recreation and human performance. He is most interested in researching and studying leadership in sport and its effect on athlete development, stress and anxiety. He is also interested in youth sport and the psychological, technical and tactical skills development of athletes. Some of his favorite courses to teach include Sport in Society; Coaching Principles and Theories; Leadership in Sport and Recreation; Sport and Human Performance Psychology; Sport in Film; and Sport and Recreation Ethics. Mr. Thomas loves the small college atmosphere, and the small class sizes provides him the opportunity to really get to know his students. Mr. Thomas coached the YHC men’s tennis team for 7 years and the men’s soccer team for 18 years, and he still enjoys teaching tennis lessons and working soccer camps. In his free time, he loves playing both recreational and tournament tennis.
