YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. — Travel with the Magic Tree House to answer a series of questions about space. Or, if that’s not your thing, you can learn about the skies over Georgia, as both shows are on tap this month at the O. Wayne Rollins Planetarium at Young Harris College.
Magic Tree House: Space Mission – Friday, Nov. 20, @ 7 p.m.
Travel with the brother-sister duo, Jack and Annie, in their Magic Tree House as they discover a note that asks them to answer a series of six questions about space. With the help of the astronomer, the Internet, an astronaut, books, and the writer of the mysterious note, Jack and Annie are taken on a wondrous journey of adventure and learning. This exciting voyage will carry visitors to the planets and far out into the universe where Jack and Annie nearly get … well, we don’t want to give it away. The adventure is just beginning!
Skies Over Georgia – Friday, Nov. 20, @ 8 p.m.
Featuring a live presenter and using the planetarium’s optical star projector to its fullest, this traditional star show allows audiences to explore the heavens as they appear above the mountains of north Georgia. Learn how to identify the planets and stars currently visible in the night sky, take a guided tour of the constellations, and hear some of their fascinating stories.
Wayne Rollins Planetarium features shows for the general public on select Friday evenings. Purchasing tickets online in advance is recommended, since planetarium shows often sell out.
Visit yhc.edu/planetarium to purchase tickets online. Any remaining tickets will be sold at the door with cash or check starting 30 minutes prior to showtime.
Guests are encouraged to arrive early to planetarium shows for the best seats.
Public shows, with the exception of Cosmic Concerts, include a live-narrated “season stargazing” segment in addition to the featured full-dome program.
