YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. — Young Harris College is pleased to welcome Dr. Joy Hamm to the Mountain Lion staff as the Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management (AVPEM). Hamm will begin her role with the Office of Admissions January 1, 2022.

As AVPEM, Hamm will be responsible for the operations of the Office of Admissions and the Office of Financial Assistance. She will report to the Provost and serve as a key member of the Provost’s Council. Hamm is charged with ensuring YHC meets or exceeds its undergraduate enrollment goals. She will also collaborate with the Dean of the Division of Professional Studies and appropriate program coordinators to recruit and admit graduate students. Similarly, she will work with the Dean of Distance Learning & Early College to recruit and admit dual enrollment students.

Hamm earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Psychology from Lenoir-Rhyne University, a Master of Arts in Counselor Education from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and a Doctor of Education in Education Administration from Georgia Southern University.

Her previous experience in higher education includes administrative roles at Wingate University, Davidson College, Georgia Southern University, Chattahoochee Valley Community College, Armstrong State University, New College of Florida, and Albany State University. She taught at Chattahoochee Valley Community College, Georgia Southern University, and East Georgia College. She worked as the Education Consultant for EXCELLence Performance Coaching and served as the Academic Support Specialist for the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Hamm has counseling experience from positions at Belmont Abbey College, Youth Homes, Inc., and Davidson College.
