YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. — Young Harris College will soon welcome students back to campus for the fall semester. Residential students move in the week of Aug. 10, and fall classes start Aug. 17.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, YHC is only open to its faculty, staff and students at this time. The following rules are now in place for campus visitors:
1) Campus visitors must have an appointment with the department they wish to visit.
2) If granted an appointment, campus visitors must wear cloth face coverings and participate in screening, including temperature checks and health questionnaires.
3) Visitors who arrive on campus without an appointment will be told to leave.

All campus buildings and grounds, including athletic facilities and practice fields, will remain closed to the public. The only exception will be the walking trail on the backside of campus. While the public may use the walking trail, please note that social distancing will be enforced, and the College may limit access to certain portions of the trail when student activities are in process.

Scheduled deliveries to campus from mail carriers, shipping providers and vendors will be permitted. While these deliveries will not require an appointment, we will require cloth face coverings and social distancing.

YHC’s Pandemic Recovery Task Force continues to review all available information and work with partner organizations, including the Georgia Department of Public Health and Union General Hospital System, to develop operational protocols. The College has released an updated academic calendar, a phased return-to-class plan, highlights of its move-in plan and highlights of its dining services plan. All reopening plans can be found on the College’s COVID-19 Resource Page.

All plans are informed by and comply with current best practice recommendations, Gov. Kemp’s executive orders and guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The College notes that plans may change as a result of new information, orders and guidance, and additional plans may be released as necessary.
