Club Sports

YHC club sports teams compete against programs from other schools around the country, offering the perfect combination for students seeking a competitive environment coupled with opportunities to develop leadership and teamwork skills.

The club sports program at Young Harris College is designed to offer a variety of sports and recreational activities and to promote health and physical well being of team members. Being involved in a group and a team situation enhances the college experience and overall education of YHC students. Club sports also allow students to develop good sportsmanship through the testing ground of athletic competition.

The Ultimate Frisbee Club Team educates students in the sport and promote exercise among the student body. The popular club sport has generated enough interest for the College to field multiple seven-member teams that are competing in USA Ultimate’s Southeast Regional Conference Division III.

YHC’s team put in bids to participate in several sectionals during Spring 2014 and competed in two USA Ultimate-sponsored competitions. The team must compete in a minimum of 10 league games in order to qualify for regional and national tournaments.

YHC's Climbing Club prides itself upon the promotion of rock climbing as a competitive and social sport at all difficulty levels, inherently creating a supportive and encouraging atmosphere for members.

Young Harris College's bass fishing team formed in Fall 2009 and regularly competes in tournaments locally, regionally and nationally.

Young Harris College bass fishing team members Brad Rutherford and Chandler White placed 12th at the B.A.S.S. 2012 Carhartt College Series National Championship in Little Rock, Ark., against 51 other colleges and universities from across the country.

Rutherford formed YHC’s bass fishing team in 2009 with Clint McNeal, ’10. The duo won the National Guard FLW College Fishing Southeast Division event on Lake Guntersville that year before going on to finish 12th overall in the National Guard FLW College Fishing National Championship.
