Topics include elasticity, utility, economic efficiency, the theory of cost, and government regulation of business with applications to current economic problems. Also, the economics of poverty, pollution, energy, population, international trade, and comparative systems are analyzed. This class was previously listed as ECON 2102.

Economics is the study of choice, but all too often this study ignores the factors that really lead to decision making; emotions. The exciting new field of behavioral economics freshen the dated approach of traditional economists by bridging the gap between economics and psychology. This class will focus on the cognitive processing that lies behind decision making and the new experimental methods being used to unlock economic mysteries.

This intensive workshop provides advanced students the opportunity to write and revise a significant body of work. The focus of the workshop is on developing a polished portfolio of poetry. This course may be repeated with the professor’s approval.
