Disability Services: Students

Getting Started

Advisors in Disability Services collaborate one-on-one with students to establish and implement reasonable accommodations including but not limited to academic accommodations, dining accommodations, extra-curricular activity accommodations, and student-employment workplace accommodations. Disability Services also works in conjunction with Residence Life to provide housing accommodations to eligible students.

To determine eligibility, students in need of any disability-related accommodation should first register with Disability Services. To register, students must submit (1) a Request for Accommodations (RFA) form and (2) provide documentation of the disability in accordance with established documentation guidelines.

Only disclosures of a disability made to Disability Services using the Request for Accommodation Form or to Residence Life using the Request for Housing Accommodation form are considered valid disclosures of a disability to the College. Information about registering with Disability Services including the RFA Form and documentation guidelines are available on the Register with Disability Services page.

Young Harris College, in general, requires documentation from the diagnosing physician, psychologist, or other treating professional.
