Colleges of Distinction, a unique guide for college-bound students, has recognized Young Harris College for its honorable commitment to helping undergraduate students learn, grow, and succeed. YHC is now a 2022-2023 College of Distinction and Georgia College of Distinction, earning additional recognition in the areas of Education and Career Development.
At the most recent Young Harris College Board of Trustees meeting, the trustees recognized Mr. Jon Anderson, Class of 1965, Chairman of the Properties Committee for the Board, for his service and dedication to the College.
Young Harris College graduate Jacob Welmaker, Class of 2022, of Evans, Georgia, was named the 2022 Outdoor Leadership Outstanding Senior.
At the most recent board meeting, the Young Harris College Board of Trustees elected Candler Ginn, 1977, as a trustee.

Young Harris College Assistant Professor of Communication Dr. Joshua Guitar recently published his first book, Dissent, Discourse, and Democracy: Whistleblowers as Sites of Political Contestation, in which he critiques prominent government whistleblowing discourses and theorizes the concept of “abstruction.” Just months after the book’s release, Guitar was awarded the James Madison Prize for Outstanding Research in First Amendment Studies by the Southern States Communication Association (SSCA).
